Within their distribution area, Palms are found to grow in the most varied habitats, from tropical forests to mangrove marshes, from highland woods to deserts. Moreover, a number of climatic factors affect their growth; the most significant factors to be taken into account are temperature, air humidity, water supply, sun light, kind of substratum. In the tropical and subtropical climate regions, where temperature and atmospheric humidity are rather high, Palms feature as an important and conspicuous element of vegetation.
