Ficus magnolioides Borzý (Villa Bellini, Catania)
Thanks to the enormous development in the plant systematic science, following the introduction of Linnaean nomenclature, botanical gardens became places for observation, as well as centres for the experimentation and acclimatisation of new species.

For example, at the Palermo Botanical Gardens, the Ficus magnolioides was described, on a specimen still living today.
